Sims Place Bus Terminal

Sims Place Bus Terminal is a roadside bus terminal along Sims Place, outside Block 51. One of a handful of roadside bus terminals in Singapore, this terminal serves the small housing estate of Sims Vista and surrounding commercial buildings. Nearby amenities include Block 49 Market & Hawker Centre, HDB Sims Drive Branch Office and Aljunied MRT Station.

Currently, SBS Transit is the anchor operator of Sims Place Bus Terminal. With the rollout of the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), the future operator of the Serangoon – Eunos Bus Package will take over as anchor operator of this terminal.

The terminal:

Sims Place Bus Terminal, located along Sims Place (eastbound) and next to Block 51 Sims Drive, consists of a single SBS Transit office, which also functions as a drivers’ lounge. A single bus stop serves as a passenger waiting area, and buses park along the left side of the road. A short walk away is Block 49 Market & Hawker Centre, where there are public toilets and food stalls.

Historical Background:

Before the consolidation of bus routes to operate to and from major interchanges, roadside terminals were very common, especially in the seventies. Sims Place Bus Terminal was no exception, and opened on 13 December 1976 to compliment the construction of housing board flats around Sims Place. The terminal first served Services 94 and 198, which were relocated from Jalan Kolam Ayer Bus Terminal. Later on, Service 20 was introduced but withdrawn in 2000. Between 2000 and 2016, Service 64 was the only service at the terminal until the introduction of Service 134 in March 2016 and 137 in October 2017.

Actually if this terminal close then 64, 134 and 137 move to other Interchange, then either:
    1. Sims Place residents must rely on Service 125 to commute,
    2. Sims Place residents must walk to Aljunied MRT, or
    3. 64, 134 and 137 still serve Sims Place but must have Red/White plate since they will be bidirectional
Since 64 is a popular route from Sims Place to City I don’t think the terminal will close anytime soon. No wonder this has lasted for nearly 50 years
