Brief History
Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2013 Draft Masterplan. Located in the heart of Buangkok neighbourhood, the interchange will be part of a mixed-use development envisioned as an integrated community hub to meet the needs of some 20,000 residents in Buangkok.
The proposed mixed-use development will have an integrated community and transport hub with a bus interchange on the first storey, a hawker centre on the second storey and a community club that spans across three storeys, alongside childcare centres and retail shops. Located adjacent to Buangkok MRT Station, the development will also be a transport node for the residents of Buangkok.
As the focal point and an identity marker for the Buangkok neighbourhood, the URA prioritized thoughtfully-designed public spaces which were well integrated with transport and community uses. A tender for the development of the land parcel was launched on 28 December 2017, and was awarded to Siena Residential Development Pte. Ltd. and Siena Trustee Pte. Ltd. (as Trustee-Manager of Siena Commercial Trust) at a tender price of S$777.78 million on 16 August 2018.
The Interchange
Based on the floor plans provided as part of the Sengkang Grand Residence development, Buangkok Bus Interchange would feature end-on berths with 19 parking lots.
The main vehicle ingress/egress leads to Sengkang Central, while a backup ingress/egress at the opposite end of the interchange led to Compassvale Bow, via the loading/unloading bay of Sengkang Grand Mall.

Looking through this space and area can also put a service to jurong east serve through hougang sengkang punggol all this to complement and follow 51 route for passengers to have a option as service 51 is always crowded throughout the whole day and also to let all bus drivers in Singapore de have more rest time at the interchange and also can put one/two more bus service to woodlands/clementi/bishan to ease and help svc 156/965/50/88 which ply through sengkang/punggol/punggol road for passengers to have a option
Looking at the size can put one or 2 buses to this new buangkok interchange as a route to CBD and suntec area which can connect through sengkang punggol resident to have a direct bus service to CBD suntec marina area like marina south pier and marina bay cruise center
101 can be extended to Buangkok Interchange via the new Buangkok Drive road once the road is completed.
Service 883 can be extended from looping at Yishun to Buangkok through Yishun Avenue 2, Lentor Avenue, SLE/TPE Jalan Kayu and the whole stretch of Buangkok Drive from there to support the developments at the same time complementing service 858 along the stretch between Yishun and Jalan Kayu
110 can be extended to Buangkok to improve ridership between Buangkok, Sengkang Central and Airport
84 can start from Buangkok to improve ridership and connecting more residents to Punggol End
Probably a new route between Punggol and Buangkok via Punggol West and Sengkang West areas to bring intra town connectivity to the amenities between the estates
I hope there can be a bigger interchange here. Sengkang ITH was a failure.
Looking at the size is almost like BPJ…Maybe service 27 starts from there..
Service 27 already started at Hougang Central though…… 27 can stop at Buangkok MRT.
Hopefully can extend service 101 to Buangkok Bus Interchange through the Future Buangkok Drive Extension-Buangkok Link.
That’s the most likely to happen.
