Nite Owl bus services are SBS Transit’s overnight bus routes, which operate after midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and eves of Public Holidays. These unidirectional services provide bus connections from the city to major housing estates during the after-hours where normal bus services do not operate.

From 22nd December 2006, there was a mass reorganisation of all Nite Owl bus routes. The six remaining Nite Owl services (16M, 65M, 89M, 162M, 174M and 181M) were withdrawn and eight new Nite Owl routes were drawn up to replace them, namely 1N to 8N:

Nite Owl 1N Marina Centre Ter  → Ang Mo Kio / Yishun
Replaces Nite Owl 162M
Nite Owl 2N Marina Centre Ter  → Bedok Reservoir / Tampines
Replaces Nite Owl 65M
Nite Owl 3N Marina Centre Ter  → Bukit Panjang / Choa Chu Kang / Yew Tee
Replaces Nite Owl 181M, later enhanced to Bukit Batok
Nite Owl 4N Marina Centre Ter  → Marine Parade / Bedok / Pasir Ris
Replaces Nite Owl 16M, later enhanced to Simei and Pasir Ris
Nite Owl 5N Marina Centre Ter  → Clementi / Jurong East
Replaces Nite Owl 174M, later enhanced to Jurong West
Nite Owl 6N Marina Centre Ter  → Hougang / Sengkang / Punggol
Replaces Nite Owl 89M
Nite Owl 7N Marina Centre Ter  → Simei / Pasir Ris
Withdrawn 31th Oct 2008 and merged with 4N.
Nite Owl 8N Marina Centre Ter  → Bukit Batok / Boon Lay
Withdrawn 31th Oct 2008 and merged with 3N and 5N.

Today, only Nite Owl 1N to 6N operate. The new Nite Owl routes all operate starting from Marina Centre Terminal, passing through City Hall, River Valley, Orchard Road and Dhoby Ghaut before branching out to various housing estates.

The original Nite Owl routes were introduced between 2000 and 2001. SBS Transit’s ten overnight bus routes were dubbed “Nite Owl” bus routes, and their routes were largely similar to their daytime counterparts, and identified by a “M” suffix. They were:

Nite Owl 16M Tanjong Pagar Rd → Bedok North Avenue 1
Introduced 7th Dec 2001, operates only during festive seasons
Nite Owl 36M Changi Airport ↺ Tomlinson Road
