SUMMARY:Exercise Station Guard 2018
DESCRIPTION:The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SBS Transit will be carrying out an emergency preparedness ground deployment exercise on Sunday\, 4 February 2018 at the Downtown Line Newton MRT station from 10am to 6pm. \nCodenamed ‘Exercise Station Guard 2018’\, the exercise aims to validate SBS Transit’s security measures and ground implementation plans at public transport nodes during periods of heightened security threats. During the exercise\, the faregates at Exit C of the Downtown Line Newton MRT station will be closed and commuters entering the station will be directed to the faregates near Exit A instead\, where they will undergo security screening. Entrances and exits of the Newton MRT station on the North-South Line will not be affected and will remain operational. \nExit C will be designated for Exit Only commuters during the Exercise period. \nCommuters should cater for additional travel time to factor in the security screening. Where possible\, commuters should also avoid large baggage\, which will require a longer time to clear. \nAs part of the screening\, commuters’ belongings and baggage will be scanned by X-ray machines\, and they are also required to pass through ‘Walk-Through Metal Detectors’ before entering the faregates. Once cleared\, they can proceed with their journey. DESCRIPTION:From Sunday\, 25 February 2018\, Services 171 and 180 will have the following changes implemented to their respective routes: \n\nService 171\nService 171 Additional Bus Stops Poster (Feb 2018)\nService 171 will be calling at a new pair of bus stops\, Block 180 (Bus Stop 44739) and opposite Block 180 (Bus Stop 44731)\, along Jelebu Road in Bukit Panjang. \nPreviously in September 2017\, as part of the Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub Bus Service Amendment\, Bus Service 171 was made to skip these exact same 2 bus stops. \n\nService 180\nService 180 Amendment to Bukit Panjang ITH Poster (Feb 2018)\nService 180 will be re-routed along Petir Road to serve Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub. \nPreviously\, Bus Service 180 used to serve the old Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange. With the closure of the interchange in Dec 2012 for the construction of Hillion Mall & Hillion Residences\, Service 180 was amended to loop around Bukit Panjang via Upp Bt Timah Rd\, Petir Rd\, Jelebu Rd & Bt Panjang Rd. With the opening of the Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub in September 2017\, Service 180 was not amended to serve the new Integrated Transport Hub and remained looping around Bukit Panjang as part of the  Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub Bus Service Amendment. \n\nThese new bus service changes could have resulted from public feedback after the Sep 2017 amendment which resulted in the changes for Service 171 to be reverted. \n
