Founders’ Memorial MRT Station (TE22A) is an underground station located along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) 4. It is built underneath Gardens By The Bay (Bay East), bringing rail connectivity to the Bay East Garden area and nearby Tanjong Rhu estate, as well as supporting future developments in the region.

The working name for the station is named after the Founders’ Memorial, a 5-ha being built in the Bay East Gardens to showcase the contributions of modern Singapore’s founders.

The station remains closed as of the opening of TEL 4 on 23 Jun 2024. The station will open in tandem with the Founders’ Memorial. Founders’ Memorial is slated to open in 2028, in which it was originally expected to open in 2025.

Previously slated to open in 2027 as on the Founders’ Memorial website, the opening year was updated to be in 2028 sometime in February / March 2024.

Construction Trivia

Contract T302 for the Construction of Facility Building and Tunnels for Thomson-East Coast Line was awarded to China Railway First Group Co., Ltd. Singapore Branch at a contract sum of S$242.4 million in June 2016. This includes a shell station near Gardens by the Bay (Bay East).

The station was first named Gardens Bay East and appeared on the rail system map with the station code TE22A in May 2018, along with the confirmed stations for the Jurong Region Line. Gardens Bay East was later removed from the rail system map in a subsequent revision.

In January 2019, it was announced that the shell station at Gardens by the Bay (Bay East) would be named Founders’ Memorial, scheduled for opening in tandem with the Founder’s Memorial itself. The contract for the construction of Founders’ Memorial station is likely a negotiated contract with China Railway First Group Co., Ltd. Singapore Branch, which was responsible for the construction of the shell station under Contract T302. China Railway First Group was awarded a $242.4 million contract to build Founders’ Memorial Station.

The station will be built by converting the TEL Facility Building at Gardens Bay East, which was built under Contract T302, to a fully-furnished MRT Station.

I have 2 options for you people:
    1. Change the station’s code or
    2. Reject building the station.
What’s your option? Reply to me. I’ll check it on 1 December 2019.
