New unknown 3-door bus spotted on Singapore’s roads

This bus was later identified as the LexSWITCH E12 SD.

A photo of a new 3-door bus on Singapore’s roads has been circulated on social media in late-June 2022.

The bus is painted to be what appears to be the Land Transport Authority’s SG♥Bus Lush Green Livery, featuring the two-toned silver borders across the front and the side of the bus. The livery however does not feature the SG♥Bus and operator logo in the photo, which was taken along Tuas South Avenue 5 at Bus Stop 25719.

The face of the bus is defined by striking lines in the headlights, almost similar to the design of a MAN A22 Euro 6, accompanied by a contrasting shade of black in the middle. The aesthetic is boosted by silver lines outlining the curves on the side body panels.

Along the nearside of the bus is 3 sets of entrance and exit doors, a feature seen in newer buses like the Linkker LM312 and CRRC C12 to improve commuter flow.

On second glance one would notice the lack of side mirrors – these have been replaced with wingless mirrors, similar to the Smart-Vision Rearview Cameras trialed on a SMRT Bus in 2019 and featured on the LTA Smart Bus.

There also appears to be a 360 degree surround view camera installed on the bus, similar to the surround view system being installed on Tower Transit buses progressively lately.

The make and model of the bus is not shown, with the driver, manufacturer logo, vehicle license plate explicitly censored in the photo to conceal the details.

Yet another trial bus?

The last single deck bus model procured by LTA was in 2018 for 60 electric buses (50 Single Deck & 10 Double Deck buses). With no new single-deck bus orders since, this bus model would likely be offered as a trial bus, similar to the electric 3-door single deck CRRC TEG6125BEV03 (registered as SG4006X) and electric double deck BYD K9RC (registered as SG4005Z) buses.

The new 3doors ebusco 3.0 bus will definitely going to be registered as SG4007T for a trial under the LTA (similar as the 3doors CRRC C12 registered as SG4006X & given to GAS and started revenue service on service 3 last December 2021) soon!!!

SG4007T is the Volvo BZL, and will undergo trials later in 2023.

Does not really looks the the ebusco. If you look at the link & the bus photo (look carefully at the rear wheels), the motor unit protrudes out more on the website & does not protrude out on the leak image.

I think most likely man lion city e bus. Cause based on the official man website they look exactly the same. Singapore should order more of this cause reliable compared to china electric bus.

That isn’t quite true. buses made by MAN actually had its many problems too. If you speak to bus captains friends, they will mention that the MAN double deckers seem to have a higher breakdown rate then the Volvo buses. For the single deckers. The aircon circulation is very poor towards the rear of the bus making it stuffy and the seats are a squeeze too and not comfortable. Although the Mercedes Citaros have a problem of weak acceleration and buggy rear doors, they have proven to be of much better quality, more reliable and more comfortable for passengers. For the china made buses, only time will tell with age if any problems arises.

No leh I have senior bus captain & newly join (ie 3 to 4 Years one) saying both Volvo & MAN double decker on the same page of no. Of breakdown. Scania still doing better but parts are getting harder to get due to older model no longer in production.

Also you need to be specific about what kind of breakdown it is – there are
        Engines (MAN)
Gearbox (MAN / ZF / Voith)
Exterior Lights, Headlights / Signals (MAN)
        Brakes System (MAN)
        Aircon System (Denso)
        Doors (Masat)

You can’t say because the Aircon breakdown alot, MAN is to blame because MAN provides the Chassis while Gemilang / LTA spec the Aircon Unit on the Bus.

More to explosion or fire due to batteries. Plus the materials used for the bus as we know are tofu materials which is prone to if touch wood met with a accident.
