Sims Place Bus Terminal

Sims Place Bus Terminal is a roadside bus terminal along Sims Place, outside Block 51. One of a handful of roadside bus terminals in Singapore, this terminal serves the small housing estate of Sims Vista and surrounding commercial buildings. Nearby amenities include Block 49 Market & Hawker Centre, HDB Sims Drive Branch Office and Aljunied MRT Station.

Currently, SBS Transit is the anchor operator of Sims Place Bus Terminal. With the rollout of the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), the future operator of the Serangoon – Eunos Bus Package will take over as anchor operator of this terminal.

The terminal:

Sims Place Bus Terminal, located along Sims Place (eastbound) and next to Block 51 Sims Drive, consists of a single SBS Transit office, which also functions as a drivers’ lounge. A single bus stop serves as a passenger waiting area, and buses park along the left side of the road. A short walk away is Block 49 Market & Hawker Centre, where there are public toilets and food stalls.

Historical Background:

Before the consolidation of bus routes to operate to and from major interchanges, roadside terminals were very common, especially in the seventies. Sims Place Bus Terminal was no exception, and opened on 13 December 1976 to compliment the construction of housing board flats around Sims Place. The terminal first served Services 94 and 198, which were relocated from Jalan Kolam Ayer Bus Terminal. Later on, Service 20 was introduced but withdrawn in 2000. Between 2000 and 2016, Service 64 was the only service at the terminal until the introduction of Service 134 in March 2016 and 137 in October 2017.

Are you stupid? Bus terminal are made supposedly just for buses to come here. Lets take this roadside bus terminal as an extension for Eunos Bus Interchange. Oh and yes no point of adding berths here especially other terminals and this terminal is from the 1970s and if you expect them to add berths or even make it into a interchange I just saay NO.

I say tear down the HDB blocks and make it into a mega ultimate super bus interchange with 100 parking lots, and add the following services:

967 – Sims Place to Woodlands via Kallang MRT, Lavender, North Bridge Road, Suntec and Express all the way to WTBI.
968 – Sims Place to Changi Airport via Kallang MRT, Aljunied, Geylang, Eunos and express all the way to Airport
959 – Sims Place to Sembawang via Suntec, Orchard, Yishun, Chong Pang.
889 – Sims Place to Changi Business Park via Bedok, Tanah Merah and Expo. Semi express service
930 – Sims Place to JB Sentral

Erm, no. If you tear down the HDB blocks a lot of people won’t be happy. And, there’s no use of building a mega huge bus interchange. There’s Lorong 1 Geylang terminal and the MRT, so it isn’t feasible.
So, they may either relocate the buses to another bigger place that can accommodate 1 or 2 more services or just demolish the terminal. Then, 137 can loop at Sims Drive like 125. For 64 and 134, idk.

If you tear down the HDB blocks, some people (like me) would have to move homes. Why not add bus 125 to there then?
