History:

In late November 2014, LTA formally announced the expansion of Tampines Interchange, with a new annexe constructed at Tampines Concourse, some 100m away from the original Interchange. Covering 10,100 sq m, the Tampines Interchange Extension would consist of 12 bus parking lots, passenger boarding and alighting facilities, a concourse area, offices, a staff lounge and a canteen. A covered walkway will be built to connect commuters from Tampines DTL / EWL MRT Station and the main Tampines Bus Interchange to this extension. It was scheduled to be operational by Q4 2015, later delayed to Q2 2016. The interchange eventually was slated to open on 18 December 2016, over a year later than initially planned.

The land on which the new annexe sits is designated as a reserve site, according to URA’s 2014 Master Plan. This would indicate that the terminal could be cleared for future developments.

This new extension of Tampines Bus Interchange is not Tampines North Interchange. Tampines North Interchange will be a mixed development located at Tampines Street 62, integrated with a shopping mall and residential complex above. In November 2022, an interim Tampines North Bus Interchange opened along Tampines North Drive 2.

In February 2023, a second pedestrian access to Tampines Concourse Bus Interchange along Tampines Avenue 7, offering a shortcut for members of the public who wish to walk through the interchange between Sunplaza Park and Tampines Central 7 areas.

I hope 39 will be amended on the same day. It will be an absolute waste of resources for an interchange to serve only 1 bus. (And LTA always say need to cut cost and therefore need to cut routes)

Bus 298 should go to the main int instead. Bus 4, 20, 68 and 969 should go here while 65, 72, 513 should go to Tampines North with 18 and 129

Heard that 18 and 129 (and later on 298) will move to the Tampines north int, only leaving bus 39 here. Bus 4, 20, 81 should move here while 68 and 72 move to the north. 298 should go to the main int
