Tengah MRT Depot is a future MRT train depot serving the Jurong Region Line (JRL). Located west of Tengah New Town, the at-grade integrated depot occupies a 44.5-hectare site, and comprises an Integrated Rail and Bus depot, ancillary buildings and a transport workers’ dormitory.

When completed, the at-grade Tengah Depot will be Singapore’s 10th MRT depot.

Facilities

Tengah MRT Depot is designed for the stabling and maintenance of 100 four-car trains, servicing the Jurong Region Line as its primary depot. In addition, there will be a stabling facility near Peng Kang Hill Station to facilitate the launching and withdrawal operations of trains.

The multi-storey Tengah Bus Depot is co-located with the MRT depot to optimise land use and streamline construction processes. It will house a Bus Operations Control Centre, and provide parking and maintenance facilities for about 600 buses. To optimise land use, the depot will also include a four-storey transport workers’ dormitory that can accommodate 450 bus captains.

Construction

Contract J101 – Design and Construction of Tengah Depot and Associated Facilities for Jurong Region Line was awarded to Railway 11 Bureau Group Corporation (Singapore Branch) in November 2019 at a total contract value of $739.5 million. Construction of Tengah Depot is expected to commence in 2020 and is slated for completion in 2026.

Incidents

On 2 December 2023 at about 11:20pm, Mr Ponraman Eazhumalai, a concrete pump assistant, was caught between the chassis of a concrete pump truck and a retracting outrigger at Tengah Depot worksite. He later died of his injuries the next day.

Train depot is located in western Tengah as that is the area closest to Tengah airbase’s runway southern approach.
