The Land Transport Authority has announced 6 new peak period bus services under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme.
To be introduced across the next few months, these 6 services comprise:
- Three peak period bus services 457, 458, 459 connecting Hougang, Sengkang and Punggol to the Circle Line and Tai Seng.
- Two peak period bus services 460 and 461 connecting Tampines Boulevard to Tampines MRT Station and Yishun East to Khatib MRT Station respectively
- City Direct Bus Service 684 between Brickland, Bukit Batok West and the Central Business District
New type of limited-stop peak period bus service
Existing routes under the 45x series provide a direct connection to MRT Stations for estates farther away from transport nodes.
The bus services 457, 458 and 459 appear to be a new type of limited-stop peak period bus service. While the exact routes have not been announced, these 3 bus services appear to provide alternate transport options for existing North East Line commuters to Tai Seng, similar to Express Bus Service 43e. It is not known if these bus services will charge express fares.
In recent times, measures to ease peak hours crowds on the congested North East Line have been ramped up. In 2025, a total of 9 new City Direct Bus Services were introduced for the northeast region, bringing the total number of northeast city direct bus services to 16. Free and discounted NEL rides were also made availlable since 27 December 2025 during selected hours in the morning.
The new bus services are also expected to shift commuters travel patterns away from the congested Serangoon MRT Station amidst the tunnel strengthening works on the Circle Line.

no announcement of that express feeder from tengah to jurong east? maybe that will be svc 462
seems like 43m might or not get withdrawn? idk
43M is already withdrawn, it has been replaced with 104 which serves Punggol Coast, Buangkok and Woodleigh as extra
Will be coming back in the form of 43A
already got withdrawn? + it doesnt serve tai seng
Punggol peak periods seems to be 62X
Sengkang one seems to be 80X
Hougang on the other hand, cant figure.
461 I think the express version of 811.
@Joo Boh, more like bodoh, anyhow speculate.
As someone who lives in Yishun, the more reasonable contender is service 807. Just look at the peak hour loads in the morning and evening. We need a peak service to offload the huge crowd getting to Yishun and Khatib.
From the looks of it, neither of you are right
Specifically I believe this is targeted towards residents of Yishun East staying the furthest away from Khatib MRT. This means 461 is more likely an 861X. The phrasing also matches the details of 861 when first announced by LTA.
vy likely. new routes tend to serve newer flats, BTOs. Could be a variant of 861 serving Symphony suites bus stops to Khatib MRT, prob plying express along Yishun St 41 & Ring Rd.
Whatever it is, it will be a mistake to go through Yishun Ring Road and clog up the junction at Kathib MRT even more.
Maybe it can go along Yishun Ring Road from Junction 9 until St 41, and then use St 41 to go onto Ave 1 and stop at the Bef Kathib Stn busstop.
Ain’t too sure about the peak period svc but the but 684 will be popular soon. Should be SMRT as the operator. I got a feeling the Yishun East to Khatib will be SBST rather than TTS.
