The Changi Airport Skytrain is an automated people mover (APM) system serving Singapore Changi Airport, connecting between Terminals 1, 2 and 3. The 6.4-kilometre network is an integral part of Airport operations, offering inter-terminal transfers for both the public and airside areas.
Currently, the system has 7 stations spread across all three terminals. The system operates daily from 5:00 am to 2:30 am at intervals between 1 and 4 minutes. During maintenance hours, replacement bus services are operated.
The system is also physically separated into two areas, North and South, with separate maintenance facilities. The North section includes stations B, C, D and E, and serves both airside and public areas. The South section only serves airside areas, with stations A, A South and F.
All stations within the Changi Airport Skytrain network have platform screen doors, isolating the air-conditioned terminal area from the outside environment, enhancing commuter safety and comfort. Plasma displays indicate the arrival time of the next train.
History

The Changi Airport Skytrain was built and opened in 1990, in tandem with the construction and opening of Changi Airport Terminal 2. The automated people mover (APM) system then connected both terminals along two parallel tracks, with one used for airside passengers and the other for the public.
Initially, the system utilised Adtranz C-100 trains which operated on a central guideway. Between 2002 and 2006, the system underwent a S$135 million expansion to connect both terminals to the new Terminal 3, as well as a new airside-only system on the South side. The guideway was also converted for Mitsubishi Crystal Mover operations, and the old system was kept operational whilst installation of the new system was in progress. Finally, in March 2006, upgraded system between T1 and T2 became operational, and new lines to T3 opened in November 2007.
Train Services
The Changi Airport Skytrain operates with 5 routes serving 7 stations:
- A (T3) to A (South)(T3): Transit passengers only
- A (T3) to F (T2): Transit passengers only
- B (T3) to C (T1): Public users & Transit passengers
- B (T3) to E (T2): Public users & Transit passengers [Suspended]
- D (T1) to E (T2): Public users & Transit passengers

Stations (Public Areas):
Skytrain Station B is located at the North end of Terminal 3, at Level 2 (Departures level). Skytrain services operate to Terminal 1 (Station C), using two-car trains, while Skytrain services to Terminal 2 (Station E) operate using three-car trains.
Skytrain Station C is located at the West end of Terminal 1, at Level 2 (Departures level) and next to Check-in Row 1. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 3 (Station B), using two-car trains. Passengers heading to Terminal 2 should proceed to Skytrain Station D at the other end of Terminal 1.
Skytrain Station D is located at the East end of Terminal 1, at Level 2 (Departures level) and next to Check-in Row 14. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 2 (Station E), using two-car trains. Passengers heading to Terminal 3 should proceed to Skytrain Station C at the other end of Terminal 1.
Skytrain Station E is located at the North end of Terminal 2, at Level 2 (Departures level). Skytrain services operate to Terminal 1 (Station D), using two-car trains and Terminal 3 (Station B) using three-car trains.

Terminal 3:
Skytrain Station A (South) is located next to Gate A21. Skytrain services connect to Station A for arrival and transfer passengers, linking Gates A15-A21 with the rest of Terminal 3’s facilities.
Skytrain Station A is located next to Gate A9. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 2 (Station F), as well as to the south end of Terminal 3 (Station A (South)) for Gates A15-A21.
Skytrain Station B is located next to Gate B5. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 1 (Station C), as well as to Terminal 2 (Station E).
Terminal 1:
Skytrain Station C is located at Terminal 1‘s west end, next to Gate C1. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 3 (Station B). Passengers heading to Terminal 2 should proceed to Skytrain Station D at the other end of Terminal 1.
Skytrain Station D is located at Terminal 1‘s east end, next to Gate D40. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 2 (Station E). Passengers heading to Terminal 3 should proceed to Skytrain Station C at the other end of Terminal 1.
Terminal 2:
Skytrain Station E is located at Terminal 2, near Gate E20. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 1 (Station D) and Terminal 3 (Station B).
Skytrain Station F is located at Terminal 2, next to Gate F50. Skytrain services operate to Terminal 3 (Station A)
Rolling Stock
The Changi Airport Skytrain operates on the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Crystal Mover rolling stock, with similar technology being used on the Punggol LRT and Sengkang LRT systems. These trains, also known as automated people movers, are rubber-tyred for minimised operating noise within built-up areas and guided by two side rails and a power rail on either side. They operate in both single-car and double-car arrangements, with triple-car operations commencing operations in 2019.
Inside, trains have a spacious interior and wide doors for ease of loading and unloading of baggage.
Skytrain Upgrades
In April 2019, six new train cars were added to the Changi Airport Skytrain network, in addition to the completion of upgrades and additions to signalling and communication systems and related station facilities. The previous two-car shuttle between Station B and E (Terminals 2 and 3) was upgraded to a three-car system, while the previous one-car shuttle between Station A and A South (Terminal 3 and Gates A15 – A21) was upgraded to a two-car system.
