Tampines North MRT Station (CR6) is an underground station along the Cross Island Line (CRL) Phase 1. The station is located underneath Tampines Avenue 11, at the junction with Tampines Avenue 6 and Tampines North Drive 2, which are future roads which will serve the upcoming Tampines North residential town.
At present, the station is at the north edge of Tampines town and in the vicinity of industries near Tampines Industrial Street 62 which will be expunged in the future to make way for residential developments. When fully developed, Tampines North Station will be a transport node for the Tampines North estate and form an integrated Transport Hub (ITH) with the adjacent Tampines North Bus Interchange.
The station is targeted for completion and opening in Year 2030.

Tampines North station has two platforms in an island platform arrangement, with both platforms utilized for trains travelling in either direction. The station platforms are built to eight-car length to cater for future expansion, although trains will only operate in a six-car formation.
Hidden from the platform, a pair of cripple sidings are located parallel to the running tracks, separated by a concrete wall.
Exits
Tampines North MRT station will likely have four exits leading to ground level. More details will be confirmed closer to the opening of the station.
One exit will be integrated at Street Level and Basement 1 Subway Level to the upcoming mixed-use commercial and residential development by Topaz Residential Pte. Ltd. and Topaz Commercial Pte. Ltd., which also comprises of the Tampines North Integrated Transport Hub at Level 1.

Construction Trivia
Tampines North Station will be constructed as part of Contract CR109 – Design and Construction of Tampines North Station and Tunnels, which was awarded to China Communications Construction Company Limited (Singapore Branch) at a contract value of around $397 million in February 2022.
Tunnels between Tampines North and Defu will be constructed as part of Contract CR110 – Design and Construction of Bored Tunnel between Tampines North Station and Defu Station, which was awarded to Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd at contract value of $446 million in November 2021. The contract includes the construction of a facility building with underground basements to cater to the electrical and mechanical requirements of CRL1.
Engineering Highlights
A large-diameter Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), measuring about 12.6 metres in diameter, will be used to construct a single 2.9-kilometre long tunnel with two tracks in it. This will be the largest tunnel boring machine ever to be deployed in Singapore and it is expected to increase work productivity and reduce manpower requirements. The tunnel will be constructed at an approximate depth of 35 metres below ground level, and is almost 50 metres underground at its deepest.
Tunnelling will be carried out mostly in Old Alluvium, which is a predominantly soil-like material comprising sandy and silty clay. This abrasive ground condition is expected to cause some wear to the TBM’s cutting equipment. LTA and the contractor will closely monitor the TBM’s progress and ensure that all works are carried out safely and timely with minimal impact to existing structures, including the shophouses in the area. Construction works for the bored tunnel between Tampines North station and Defu station are expected to start in December 2021.
Tampines North station is located between Tampines Link and Tampines Ave 11. Excavation works at these areas are expected to be challenging as the ground conditions comprise thick and soft layers of marine clay as well as a soil-like material comprising sandy and silty clay. Safety measures will be taken when carrying out the Earth Retaining and Stabilising Structure and deep excavation works to ensure stability of the ground and surrounding structures. LTA and the contractors will monitor the works closely to ensure that they are carried out safely and minimise any inconvenience to stakeholders.

Very excited to know about the construction of new Tampines North MRT station. As resident at Elias Terrace, please build an overhead bridge, or preferably underpass, for Elias Terrace/Elias Green Condo residents to cross over to the Tampines North MRT Station and to access to Tampines North new town.
Hopefully, there will be a overhead bridge or underpass for Elias Road residents to cross over to the Tampines North MRT Station and to access to Tampines North new town.
Great idea that will also allow Tampines North resident to walk to Pasir Ris park through singei api. I prefer underground tunnel access instead.
