The bus involved, SBS7418J, a refurbished Volvo B9TL CDGE, had made a right turn at the traffic junction earlier before mounting and colliding into the center divider. The front windscreen was smashed and some exterior body panels were dislodged and damaged.

Two lanes of Simei Road was closed to traffic, causing congestion during the evening peak period.
The recovery process took over two hours. Initial recovery operations were futile as the SBS Transit recovery vehicle was unable to pull the bus off the divider using a chain. Another tow truck had to be called in to pull the bus out. The accident scene was eventually cleared at around 8:30pm.
