The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced the procurement tender for the latest batch of 660 electric buses. This move is part of Singapore’s ongoing efforts to transition to a cleaner, greener public transport system.
The tender, Procurement of Electric Buses (Contract PT602), was officially published today, 14 March 2025, and is open for submissions from eligible suppliers. This is also the first tender called for electric double-deck buses to have the three-door, two-staircase design.
The 660 buses comprise 360 single-deck buses and 300 double-deck buses.
According to LTA in a Facebook Post, this batch of electric buses will replace diesel buses that are reaching the end of their statutory lifespan.
Key Requirements for Bidders
To ensure compatibility with Singapore’s transport network, the LTA has set forth several critical criteria that potential suppliers must meet:
- Compliance with Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) Rules
- Right-hand drive electric buses
- A configuration with one entrance and two exits
- Low-floor bus interior
- Provision of two wheelchair bays
- Two staircases for double-deck bus options (Base Offer 2)
The LTA will adopt a 2-envelope bidding system, requiring tenderers to submit separate documents for pricing and technical specifications via the Government Procurement GeBIZ portal.
Driving Singapore Towards a Greener Future
This latest procurement follows the previous tender of 420 single-deck buses under Contract PT601 (Procurement of single deck electric buses), which also focused on expanding Singapore’s electric bus fleet.
As part of the LTA’s push to electrify Singapore’s public bus fleet, half of all public buses will be electric by 2030. To meet this target, LTA will procure more than 2,000 electric buses within the next five years, including double-deck models.
Manufacturers have also came forward with new three-door, two-staircase double-decker buses designed for the Singapore market. Three units were showcased at the LTA-UITP Singapore International Transport Congress & Exhibition (SITCE) 2024, namely the BYD BC12A05, CRRC eD12, and Zhongtong LCK6126EVGS (N12D).
Singapore’s commitment to electrifying its public transport system aligns with the nation’s broader Green Plan 2030 objectives. The adoption of electric buses is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions, noise pollution, and reliance on fossil fuels.
For more details on the tender submission and requirements, interested parties can visit the GeBIZ portal or refer to LTA’s official procurement guidelines. The tender will close on 22 May 2025, 4:00pm.

I got a feelings that LTA will buy probably 70 units of EV bendy buses for airport supplements. They also won’t be losing out to KL as they knew GoKL is also eyeing bendy buses in future..SG Gov want face.
Hopefully There Will be 2 Year Lifespan Extension for Scania K230UB Euro IV Batch 2 Buses Remaining Units,All 398 Units of Scania K230UB Euro V Batch 1 and 200 Units of Scania K230UB Euro V Batch 2 Buses as well. Please Do Not Scrap these buses.Transport them to another Countries as they are in Good Performance and Please Extend Them by 2 Years and Should be Ended by 2027 to 2029 for these Scania KUB Buses.
The more you keep and maintain non Euro6 buses the more expensive the spare parts especially those Euro4 BUSES.SBST also can’t wait to export or scrap these buses as the upcoming EV buses is enough to cover the Euro4 buses temporarily.Gali Batu will transfer non Ev to Soon Lee and the latter will received at least 100 Ev SD once GB depot is operational. Those SW and KC based Citaro might be the replacement buses for the Batch 1 OC too.
Expected to be awarded around October or November 2025, and 2026 december rollout.
They Said is December 2027 Rollout. Not December 2026 Rollout.Understand me?
Might be expedite to early 2027..Those European manufacturers is desperate to hear good news. For the time being enough of Zhongtong and BYDs.
