Land zoning & Tender

Plans for the interchange were first mooted as part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA)’s 2019 Draft Masterplan. The interchange will be part of a mixed-use development integrated with Bedok South MRT Station, retail amenities and housing.

A URA tender for the ~5.74 ha land parcel was launched on 30 March 2026. According to URA, the bus interchange will have a minimum gross floor area of 7,700 m2, including spaces for retail shops. A direct underground connection will be made with Bedok South MRT Station.

Control plans for the tender indicate two vehicular access points for the bus interchange. The main access will be a full-movement signalised junction on the south side of the interchange, leading to Bayshore Drive, while a contingency access will be a left-in-left-out intersection leading to Bayshore Avenue (southbound).

The notional layout of the bus interchange indicates 4 alighting berths and 7 boarding berths.

Replacement of Upper East Coast Bus Terminal

The new Bedok South ITH will also replace the existing Upper East Coast Bus Terminal. This is to facilitate the construction of Bayshore Drive, which will connect to Upper East Coast Road and Kew Drive via a four-way junction.

The awarded tenderer for the development would also be required to demolish the existing Upper East Coast Bus Terminal, after bus operations have shifted to the new Bedok South ITH.

Can they get a better name for this? Bedok South, acroynm BS. Upper East Coast would honestly be a much better sounding name.
