The Jurong Region Line (JRL) Shuttle Bus Services are upcoming bus routes that broadly parallel the Jurong Region Line (JRL).
Slated to launch from the 2nd half of 2027, these interim services will have fewer stops to reduce journey times. They will start operations ahead of the opening of JRL Phase 1, which is scheduled for mid-2028.
Background
When announced in 2018, the JRL was originally planned to open in 3 phases, in 2026, 2027 & 2028 respectively.
On 1 February 2021, authorities announced a 1-year delay to the JRL, citing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Opening dates for the three phases were pushed back to 2027, 2028 & 2029, respectively.
On 4 March 2026, authorities announced a further six-month delay of the JRL Phase 1, citing construction difficulties. This delayed the Phase 1 opening from end-2027 to mid-2028. To reduce the impact on commuters, two interim shuttle bus services were announced.
The two services will run from “selected JRL stations to key destinations in the region, until the JRL is open”, according to a speech by Acting Minister for Transport Mr Jeffrey Siow, delivered at the Ministry of Transport’s Committee of Supply Debate 2026.
