Clarification on 148:
The reason why it’s not classified as a feeder is most likely because of confusion. Woodleigh and Potong Pasir classified are under Toa Payoh Town, as seen in the URA maps. If this was under the Feeder Categorisation, the numbering would follow the TPY Feeders ie 23x. This will highly confuse commuters as Woodleigh & PP are not known as part of TPY.
Also, about why 148 was introduced instead of 142 extending to Woodleigh. There are two reasons. The main reason is due to frequencies. 142 currently suffers from a serious traffic problem located at the PIE St. Andrew’s Slip Road, which severely affects the headways for 142, thus resulting in frequent bunching And/Or delays. Absorbing into 148’s route will in turn make 148 an infrequent route. Thus, in a way, current 148 acts as a supplementary service for 142.
Second reason, confusion (again). Not much to say here, its pretty obvious confusion will arise for services that use red/white plate routings.
First cut long trunk to half, then A B M variants as new svc and now short trunk trend..Just convert to feeder better LJ la
this should have just been a feeder (using 36x) like this seems way too short even some other feeders are longer
Feeder,KNN like that also trunk
Just extend 142 la..aiyoo..double loop like red white plate
Originally 142 was supposed to be this but due to severe traffic congestions around PIE as well as high demand on 142, LTA have to split 142 & 148 up especially Potong Pasir is NOT DD friendly……
I wished 142 does but due to this, LTA found an alternative for Potong Pasir
So basically it’s 101/114 all over agn
101 & 114 was due to residents afraid of the lack of traffic lights
By now they should have merged the two already BUT 114 is generating such good numbers for their money and their statistics, thus they kept it
(ok the generate good data part is a part joke, but the money part is true)
