Bus Service 199 connects Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and CleanTech Park with Boon Lay MRT/Bus Interchange, while also serving residents along Jalan Boon Lay and Jalan Bahar.

Within the NTU campus, Service 199 runs along Nanyang Crescent and Nanyang Avenue, primarily serving the halls of residence on the northern edge of the campus. It also provides access to the National Institute of Education (NIE) and stops at Nanyang Drive (Bus Stop 27219 – NIE Blk 2), located opposite NTU’s North Spine academic buildings.

Passenger demand for Bus Service 199 is generally lower than for Service 179, as the latter serves more key academic areas. While Service 199 helps link NTU’s academic and residential zones, most inter-campus transport needs are met by the free NTU campus shuttles—Campus Loop Red and Campus Loop Blue.

A pair of bus stops along Jalan Bahar, located outside Westwood Secondary School, serves as a frequently-used transfer stop for Bus Service 974. Passengers for NTU and CleanTech Park can transfer to Service 974, which provides an express route to Choa Chu Kang via KJE and continues to Bukit Panjang.
