City Direct Service 657 provides residents of Jurong West/East Avenue 1 and Toh Guan with greater connectivity to the CBD. The service provides a travel alternative for commuters who relied on the rail network and feeder buses to and from work. The route incorporates an express sector between Toh Guan Road and Anson Road/Shenton Way via AYE.

This is the seventh City Direct service to be introduced under the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), and one of ten City Direct bus routes to be progressively introduced until the 2nd Quarter of 2014. This provides more options for commuters using stretches of the existing rail lines that experience persistently high ridership, while the ongoing rail enhancement measures are being implemented.

Service 657 really need improvement. The bus are always crowded & never got the chance to have a seat. The driver of the 2nd bus drove very slowly. No idea why but think service 657 really need to improve. Have more buses in the morning rather than just 2 & if possible have it change to a double decker bus. Hope the management can improvise on this.

The 657 skipped the 7:30am service today. The bus came at 7:40am and waited at the first bus stop in Jurong West till 7:47am. The bus was full only at 3rd stop due to the accumulation of passengers from the 7:30am bus. This could cause trouble to many passengers. Please take this issue seriously and improve on it.
