A power trip resulted in disruption of train services on SMRT’s three MRT lines and one LRT line, causing inconvenience to many commuters during the post evening rush hour.
The East-West, North-South and Circle Lines, as well as the Bukit Panjang LRT Line, encountered a black-out at 7:53PM due to a power dip at the Buona Vista power intake station.
As a result, no train services were available along the following sectors:
- East West Line: between Joo Koon and Bugis, resumed at 8;34PM
- North South Line: between Jurong East and Woodlands, resumed at 8;34PM
- Bukit Panjang LRT: Full Line, resumed at 9:52PM
- Circle Line: Caldecott to Harbourfront, resumed at 9:31PM
The remaining sectors on the East-West and North-South Lines were also hit by delays.
Passengers aboard trains reported that train cabins lights and air-conditioning went off, leaving only emergency lighting and ventilation. On the Bukit Panjang LRT, passengers on 4 trains were de-trained and walked on tracks to the nearest station.
Multiple stations also encountered a blackout on either platform or concourse levels, including Bukit Batok, Senja and Jelapang stations.
