Early Closure of East West Line (April 2020)

Early Closures along the East West Line (EWL) between Tanah Merah and Aljunied will take place on selected Fridays & Saturdays in April 2020 to allow for additional engineering hours, primarily for power supply system renewal works.

Due to the Singapore COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Measures, the Early Closure for rail renewal works from 17 April 2020 to 25 April 2020 will no longer take place.

The last train timings for the EWL will be brought forward, as part of network-ride train service reductions implemented by the Land Transport Authority during the Circuit Breaker period.

Affected MRT Stations

East West Line

• EW4CG Tanah Merah
• EW5 Bedok

As a result, train services on the East West Line between EW4CG Tanah Merah and EW9 Aljunied will be unavailable during the periods of closure. Train services between Pasir Ris & Tanah Merah, Aljunied & Tuas Link, as well as between Tanah Merah & Changi Airport, will not be affected.

Affected Hours & Dates

On selected Fridays & Saturdays during Early Closure, last trains will depart at around 11:00 pm along the affected stretch.

Shuttle Bus Services

Shuttle Bus Services will be provided throughout the duration of the early closures. Fares for the Shuttle Bus Services are equivalent to the distance travelled by train.

Extended Bus Operating Hours

On days of Early Closure, the last buses for residential bus services will be extended to allow commuters to connect from the Shuttle Bus Services.
The last bus timings for these services will no longer be extended on cancelled Early Closure days.
