Service 249A started operations on the 16th June 1978 starting from the now-defunct Boon Lay Gardens terminal located along the junctions of Boon Lay Place and Boon Lay Drive; Introduced between Boon Lay Gardens terminal and Jalan Samulun. Bus 249A was withdrawn on 5th October 1987. After the long 37 years withdrawal, 249A makes its comeback to its present day 249A under the new operator SMRT Buses instead of being introduced under SBS Transit. Today, 249A serves from Boon Lay Interchange (BNITH) to Tanjong Kling (Jurong Shipyard) during morning peak hours.
Does this confirm that 249 is transferring over Sep 1 then? Since this poster is by SMRT
Seems that it will be all transfer to SMRT on the same date. That’s why, until now still no announcement. Most probably they will only give about one week notice, since it’s mainly just a change of branding, with supposed service improvements due to BCM framework.
Well, SMRT just announced today. They are taking over in two tranches.
Anyway, I think one thing to look forward to is the introduction of other bus models like the Mercedes-Benz OCLE, ADL E500, MAN A95, and MAN A22 with the curry pok hairstyle, which may make their debut on the Jurong West Bus Package bus routes.
Well, 249 during morning peak hour, the queue very long; stretch all the way to Jurong Point. This short-working trip would be helpful. However, what about evening? Morning same time start work, evening probably also same time end work.
