Following the earlier Trial of Luggage Racks on Bus Service 36 in 2025, the Land Transport Authority will be installing multi-tier luggage racks on 12 additional MAN A22 buses to be deployed on Bus Service 36.
These additional measures were revealed by a spokesperson for the Land Transport Authority, in response to inquiries from Lianhe Zaobao and subsequently featured in a news article by Zaobao.
Buses with luggage racks would be deployed at staggered times to ensure that every other bus is equipped with a luggage rack, accommodating the needs of passengers traveling to the airport and other wheelchair users.
In addition, the LTA spokesperson mentioned that there are currently no plans to install luggage racks on the 7 other public bus services serving Changi Airport. This is due to the routing of the other bus services which primarily serve residential areas and general community passengers with diverse travel needs. Currently at the airport, Service 36 connects the Central Business District and Changi Airport, has a higher proportion of airport passengers and is the only service that goes directly from Changi Airport to the city center.

Frankly, when people take plane to and fro Changi Airport, they take MRT. Bus is honestly for people staying in the east and the north.
Finally! Good to see a POSITIVE CHANGE to Service 36! This will be very convenient to travellers to Changi Airport, and other 36 commuters who do not need to deal with people lumbering with luggage. Now, they should label the buses with luggage racks as such on the bus ETA apps, like they do for WAB buses.
