Following the earlier Trial of Luggage Racks on Bus Service 36 in 2025, the Land Transport Authority will be installing multi-tier luggage racks on 12 more MAN A22 buses, to be deployed on Bus Service 36.
These additional measures were revealed by a spokesperson for the Land Transport Authority, in response to inquiries from Lianhe Zaobao and subsequently featured in a news article by Zaobao.
Buses with luggage racks would be deployed at staggered intervals to ensure that every other bus is equipped with a luggage rack, accommodating the needs of passengers traveling to the airport and other wheelchair users.
In addition, the LTA spokesperson mentioned that there are currently no plans to install luggage racks on the 7 other public bus services serving Changi Airport. This is due to the routing of the other bus services which primarily serve residential areas and general community passengers with diverse travel needs. Currently, Service 36 sees a higher proportion of airport passengers and is the only service that directly connects Changi Airport and the city centre.

so unfair… what about other services?
What about I can put my family’s luggage to put at the 12 additional MAN A22 bus service 36?
How does this make sense?
There should simply be another service to the city during most hours.
E5 A22s can be converted for this as well.
Most probably not cost economical to use Citaros due to low horsepower.
