Bus Contracting Model – Transfer of Buses

Under the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), buses may be transferred from operator to operator or between the Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s pool of storage buses.

This article logs the changes since May 2016, at the start of the first term for the Bulim Bus Package.

New buses may be registered directly with the first use operator or under the anchor operator of the bus depot in which the buses are stored at. The transfer of buses between LTA and the first use operator in which the buses itself were registered for storage are also logged in the below tables.

Does anyone know why SMB3038H, SMB3040A, SMB3042U, SG1861M, SG1873D, SG1876X, SG1889J, SG1057T, SG1231G, SBS6390K, SBS6398P & SBS6474C were transferred to SMRT from their previous operator? Is it because of the new unified system for fare collection and fleet management?

Maybe SBS will soon be junking some of their oldest buses… maybe these buses are meant for replacing the ret’d buses?

And maybe the reason why some buses were given back to GAS is because after the amendment of 66, LTA will ask TTS to hand some buses over to SBS?

It is to progressively phase out the oldest B9TL CDGE, where there will not be anymore extension after 2023.

If only they also had Volvo B9TL. However the chances of this happening is just lowering.
