The Bukit Panjang LRT (BPLRT) Rail Bridging Service (or BPLRT free shuttle bus service / BPLRT Free Bridging Bus Service) is an replacement bus service which is provided in the event of a Train Service Disruption or a planned closure involving the Bukit Panjang LRT, which is operated by SMRT Light Rail.
When a section of the Bukit Panjang LRT is suspended, this service may be activated to ferry affected commuters between affected stations, hence minimizing the impact of rail disruptions on commuters. This service may also be activated should there be a significant addition of expected travelling time along the BPLRT.
Activation:
When the BPLRT bridging bus service is activated along a specific stretch of the BPLRT, information will be disseminated through SMRT and the Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s media platforms. The service will only stop at specific bus boarding points (either at bus stops or bus interchanges) which are marked out in the ticket concourse of every station.
This service is offered for free, in addition to free bus boarding of regular bus services during a disruption.

On Sundays from 12 November 2017 to 31 December 2017, train services along the Bukit Panjang LRT will begin at 7:00am instead of at the usual 5.30am to facilitate track maintenance and renewal work. The BPLRT Bridging Bus Service will thus be offered during the downtime.
On Sundays from 15 April 2018 to 24 June 2018, train services along the Bukit Panjang LRT will not operate to facilitate track maintenance and renewal work. The BPLRT Bridging Bus Service will thus be offered during the downtime.
On Sundays from 01 July 2018 to 28 October 2018, train services along the Bukit Panjang LRT will begin at 8:00am to facilitate track maintenance and renewal work. The BPLRT Bridging Bus Service will thus be offered during the downtime.
On Sundays in October 2020, train services along the Bukit Panjang LRT will not operate to facilitate testing works for the introduction of the BPLRT new signalling system. The BPLRT Bridging Bus Service (only LRT Shuttle B) will thus be offered during the downtime.
On Sunday, 1 October 2023, train services along the Bukit Panjang LRT will not operate to facilitate the migration of the BPLRT Operations Control Centre to an Interim Operations Control Centre.
