[Defunct] Nite Owl services

Nite Owl Bus Services will be discontinued from 30 June 2022. The services were suspended since 8 April 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2023, private bus operator A&S Transit launched 2 new Night Services.

Nite Owl bus services are SBS Transit’s overnight bus routes, which operate after midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and eves of Public Holidays. These unidirectional services provide bus connections from the city to major housing estates during the after-hours where normal bus services do not operate.

All Nite Owl routes all operate starting from Marina Centre Terminal, passing through City Hall, River Valley, Orchard Road and Dhoby Ghaut before branching out to various housing estates.

History:

Singapore Bus Service / SBS Transit introduced ten overnight bus routes between 2000 and 2001. Dubbed “Nite Owl” bus routes, their routes were largely similar to their daytime counterparts and identified by an “M” suffix.

Before the Nite Owl reorganization from 22nd December 2006, only six of the original ten routes would remain (16M, 65M, 89M, 162M, 174M and 181M).

From 22nd December 2006, there was a mass reorganisation of all Nite Owl bus routes. The six remaining Nite Owl services (16M, 65M, 89M, 162M, 174M and 181M) were withdrawn and eight new Nite Owl routes were drawn up to replace them, namely 1N to 8N:

Night Bus Services were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic from 8 April 2020. They never resumed service since, with the services withdrawn officially on 30 June 2022.

Operating Hours:

All regular Nite Owl services operate between 12:00 am and 2:00 am on Fridays, Saturdays and eves of Public Holidays, with a frequency of 40 minutes each. Hence, departure times are estimated around 0000, 0040, 0120 and 0200hrs departing Marina Centre.

During special occasions like Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, operating hours of Nite Owl services will be extended to 4:00 am. More trips may be added to supplement high demand during special occasions.

Bus concession passes are not applicable for Nite Owl services.
This service charges flat fares; distance-based fares not applicable.
