Premium Bus Services typically ply between major residential estates and key industrial/ commercial nodes such as the Central Business District (CBD) or Industrial/ Business Parks during peak hours.
Designed to ease the rush-hour crowd, Premium Bus Services charge a premium fare but offer a more direct connection as compared to existing public transport options. Premium Bus Services are operated by private bus operators based on commercial considerations.
Fares for Premium services are typically priced around 3 to 6 dollars, making them more expensive than public buses and trains, but more affordable compared to taxis or private hire vehicles. Passengers are also guaranteed a seat onboard the bus.
All Premium bus services are operated by private bus companies, except LCS1 & LCS2 which is operated by Public Transport Operator SBS Transit.

Any advice from woodlands ave 3 to bugis area?
I am a student and i bought consession on 10thNov. On 11thNov myschool had an event at Hillview community centre. I checked on google map,it show 963 or 963R can go there so i go woodland int and waited for bus. After 5 minutes, the 963R bus came and i remembered that 963R can reach there too, so i took that bus to go there. I do not know that it was a premium bus and it charge me.I am unhappy with it. Is there any difference between the premium buses and normal buses? I do not feel premium buses are more comfort. How can I differential the premium buses and normal buses in the future?
Actually, 963R operated by SMRT (a public operator) is an Express service, not a Premium service. It charges Express distance-based fares. For Premium buses, these are gradually being phased out to private operators (e.g. Ren Quan, AEDGE, ComfortDelGro, etc.).
Traveling on Bus 552 used to be enjoyable as it provides the comfort and convinience. Even thoigh $5 per ride is much more than the other private service which charges almost 50% lesser and bring me to the same destination, i continued to travel with 552 for the comfort. Unfortunately, this has all been changed. The company not only changed the driver but the vehicle. The current vehicle used by service 552 is much older (at least the feel) than the previous one. Most of the air con vents in the vehicle are faulty. Most important of all, there is only one door which in my opinion lack of safety. To sum up, the provider should ensure its passengers are paying for a value for money service. We paid a premium price and would expect receiving a comparable service. I have switched to the other service; paid lesser, more comfortable vehicle and take me to my destination in about the same time.
