Service 230M provides a more direct and convenient connection to Toa Payoh Bus Interchange and MRT station for residents staying at Kim Keat Avenue.

Plans for the route were first announced by the Land Transport Authority as part as an update on the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme in April 2025, to be implemented by June 2025. The route closely mirrors the old routing of Service 230 prior to its extension to Caldecott MRT Station & Lorong 8 Toa Payoh in January 2025, except the looping area around Kim Keat Avenue which is reversed for Service 230M’s routing.

Although operating daily, operating hours for Service 230M are limited till 9pm daily, as compared to its parent Service 230 at 12:30am. In addition, the service starts operating at 6.30am on Weekdays and 9am on Weekends & Public Holidays.

Looks like 230M will be the same as 230. Then why was the bus extended away from the interchange in the first place?

    Yet another fucked up planning

Easiest solution was to 265 the heck out of 230. Ergo, make 230 serve TPY ITH in both directions like 265!
Introducing an M-variant, my main concern is the waste of resources required. Buses will be siphoned from 230 to operate on 230M. Moreover, buses will have to either CLOWBus or layover, for which they will have to do so at Caldecott
I do not know exactly how operation procedures are held, but I do know that 230 amendment would have been a simpler and more cost-effective solution
Understood that confusion may arise from commuters. However if the signage is right (not stupid “AMK St 63”), commuters will easily navigate
ie, “Caldecott MRT” & “Kim Keat Avenue”
