If they wanted to keep 66 as bedok – JE, they need to eliminate 66’s competition.
– First, 67 can be made to ply an express sector between bukit panjang and newton, similar to 972/M. This saves time for ppl heading from cck & bt panjang to little india. For bt panjang to beauty world is covered by 170.
– Secondly, 65 could be withdrawn entirely or shortened to loop at orchard rd (similar to 972) from harbourfront. Lost sectors can be covered by 21, 64 & 67 (and 14 & 61 if the withdrawal option was chosen)
– Thirdly, 170 can ply an expressway to newton from beauty world.
– Lastly, 228 can be withdrawn entirely as one can take 66 then transfer to 60.
This leaves 66’s only competition is 21 & 64, but they do not heavily duplicate 66. This can hence allow 66 to remain as bedok – je. Ik theres dtl, but im inly looking into the bus perspective
Just extend 66 to Tampines Interchange but still serve bedok resvr,bt timah, little india
Bus Service 65 is already covering Tekka Centre – Tampines hello….. Bus Service 66 already facing some unprofitability over the years already.
How to make 66 more profitable other than amending this service to cater to new demand?
btw i kinda deny my suggestion. 66 shld just stay as je-loop at beauty world
i can still take 66+67 to continue my journey from JE to bedok
66’s initial route when first introduced was Tampines Int to Jurong East Int and vice-versa. And also it shares long duplicating sectors with other services hence the major amendment.
My first time riding Tower Transit Singapore bus today! I took Service 66 on A Mercedes Benz Citaro from opposite Science Centre to Jurong East MRT station.
