Short Trip Service 84A was introduced to meet the high demand for Service 84W, providing additional trips from Punggol Bus Interchange / MRT Station to the newly-opened Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol campus. This service only operated during the SIT school term and was not available during SIT school holidays.

Prior to the opening of Punggol Coast MRT station on 10 December 2024, public transport to SIT Punggol was mainly accessible via Teck Lee LRT station (which opened on 15 Aug 2024) or Bus Services 84G/84W. Service 84A helped increase morning peak frequencies for Service 84W, reducing combined bus intervals to 2-3 minutes from Punggol Bus Interchange.

At its launch on 16 August 2024, it operated on an ad-hoc basis on four days (Fri 16 Aug 2024, Sat 17 Aug 2024, Sun 18 Aug 2024 & Sat 24 Aug 2024) before converting to its regular operating days at the start of the SIT school term on Mon 2 Sep 2024.

The service was withdrawn after 11 Apr 2025, after the opening of Punggol Coast MRT Station earlier in Dec 2024.

People are going to the University on a weekend? Is there smth happening there? What does adhoc mean in this case also does it mean they’re working with SIT or they’re js gonna have buses locked and loaded for surge in crowd

Wa, then why that time don’t want to launch 243A to Pioneer MRT station (loop via st 61, 63, Pioneer Road North)? And capacity of 243A : 243G&W is 50-50? (Essentially like the branch lines of a train line, 50-50 to each branch).

Then don’t need to have 258 already. Joo Koon Bus Interchange could have been just 185 extend to Joo Koon to compensate 257 shortening to Joo Koon. History would have really changed. Anyway, here’s a route suggestion to consider, if anyone from LTA reading. You are welcome.
