Bus Service 974 is a trunk service from Joo Koon, looping at Bukit Panjang MRT. The route enhances inter-town connectivity and provides Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang residents with access to existing bus services plying Nanyang Technological University and Jurong Industrial Estate. It will also enhance connectivity in the west by linking Bukit Panjang Station (Downtown Line) and Choa Chu Kang Station (North-South Line) to Boon Lay, Pioneer and Joo Koon Stations (East-West Line).
The route relieves end-to-end demand on Service 172 by providing an express bus corridor along the Kranji Expressway (KJE), offering faster journeys between Choa Chu Kang and Boon Lay, as well as complementing existing bus connections between Boon Lay and Joo Koon. Connecting directly to Joo Koon, the route will also benefit commuters travelling between the north of Singapore and industries at Joo Koon via train, reducing the need to transfer between the North South Line and East West Line at Jurong East.

Don’t understand what the genius at LTA is doing
974 should be operated by SMRT starting at Gali Batu loop at Joo Koon..Ironic there’s no 97x series in SBST service.
110 should be SBST operating instead of SMRT.
61 & 991 should just go to TTS.
117 should be in Sembawang package as more than 60% of the route is within Yishun/Sembawang..
110 is meant for memory since theres NEL+SKGPGLRT
No choice
61 remain, 991 can
117 makes 0.01% sense (dont ask me why)
Yesterday, 6 December 2021, I went to Joo Koon Interchange to try my luck to sit the 3-door Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (coz there is service 974)
A MAN A22 Euro VI (SG 1885U) arrived. I waited for the next bus but it also was a MAN A22 Euro VI (SG 1887P) . I decided to ask the SBST staff at the interchange office. The staff said that the bus would be on service at 4.23pm. That time, it was 4pm. So I waited for 23 minutes. At 4.22pm, the driver boarded the bus and turned on the EDS display. I waited and waited until 4.30pm. However, the bus still did not move. At 4.31pm, another bus driver noticed the original bus driver having difficulties starting the bus. I looked at the bus arrival TV. The next bus was at 4.36pm. The commuters behind me too started getting frustrated. Finally, at 4.35pm, the bus driver moved the bus out of the parking lot. When the bus turned right onto Upper Jurong Road, I saw a MAN A95 also on service 974 behind my bus. Bunching!
If any of you experience this, please just inform the interchange staff
this is the SBST counterpart of Service 83. Like 83, 974 keeps on getting the latest bus model
Wow , why every single good bus got to go to 974 Comon! Give other services a chance . Like I know there’s alot of people gonna take 974 but same goes to other crowded services
SBS Transit already deployed the Alexander Dennis Enviro500 on SBST service 107
Note: but not service 107M
So if you are living where service 107 passes by, you are lucky
adl enviro 500 3 door is deployed 107m interlining from 107
Wah. Ever since 974 was transferred to SBS Transit, 974 keep getting all the good buses. Now even have the 3 door buses. About time to give this privilege to other bus routes already.
