Bus Service RWS8 is a shuttle route between Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) on Sentosa Island and HarbourFront on the mainland. The route links the transport node of HarbourFront (with MRT and plenty of bus connections) with Resorts World Sentosa, operating with high frequencies and affordable fares. The route charges a flat fare of $1.00, inclusive of the Sentosa admission fee.

The service is operated on a contract currently awarded to Tong Tar Transport Service Pte Ltd, with staff and visitors to RWS relying on the route as the main connection between HarbourFront MRT and RWS on a daily basis. The number “8” was most likely chosen on auspicious grounds. SMRT Buses used to operate this service from 9th January 2010 to 30th June 2016.

During special days and festive events, more buses will be added to cope with increase in passenger demand. Operating hours may be extended accordingly.

SMRT Operations

Initially operating on a full Mercedes-Benz OC500LE fleet in its early years, RWS8 under SMRT Buses uses various 12-metre rigid buses from Ang Mo Kio Depot. Well known to be the most leisurely route to drive, the timetable offers bus drivers a 10-minute layover between 20-minute trips.

Change of Operator

On 1 July 2016, the operator for RWS8 was changed from SMRT Buses Ltd to Tong Tar Transport. With the change in operator, the operating hours for the route was extended to start at 0545hrs instead of 0600hrs. Fares for this bus service for inbound rides to Resorts World Sentosa was also reduced to $1.00, from $2.00. The route frequency was also improved to 5 – 10 mins.

The employee route variant, RWS8 Staff, was also withdrawn on 1 July 2016. Affected staff members will have to ride the normal RWS8 bus, but can enjoy free travel by flashing his/her staff pass to the driver upon boarding.

The stop at Bef Seah Im Rd seems to have been removed from the route, but I’m unable to locate any official announcements on when the change was made.

It was the 1st time I took this mode of transport to Sentosa. It happened at I have not enter Sentosa for more than 2 decades.I was told by that I can board it from the pickup point of the MRT at Harbourfront. No info is shown about the chargable fee of $1/- for RWS8. So I thoughts its a free shutter service by courtesy of the management. Why is no notification sign shown? After boarding from the back of the bus,the Chinese bus driver confronted me rudely to pay. So I thought my Merdeka concession farecard is acceptable.I tried several times but it failed. The bus driver then started yelling at me spitefully, to remove card from my wallet to try again. Then it failed repeatedly, the bus driver continued ranting and throwing tantrums at me,that my concession farecard is declined for private transport. Why did RWS management appoint such low standard bus driver, to chauffeur their esteemed patrons? Such terrible service trsnsport driver will spoil the business for RWS. The 1st time transport trip there, had really upset and spoiled my mood.I went there as an invited guest for an event held on 4/1/20. I took picture of the Bus plate PC5248P, at 1.10pm.Management kindly take note, to remove this loud talking ruffian bus driver, from spoiling the business for patrons going RWS.

The shuttle has a flat fare of $1, payment in ez-Link card and cash only. You should board from the front. And the reason the BC scolded you is that there will be a long queue behind and he is irritated by the long time you take to pay the $1! If you are thinking the BC should ask the others to board from behind, NO. There is no fare reader behind. FYI, RWS DID NOT employ this innocent BC. It was Tong Tar Transport. Do not blame RWS. This service is highly used the whole time. There is a long queue the whole time. There is no discount for Merdeka Generation Card. For the free alternative, there is a Sentosa Boardwalk.
