Retired Buses

The Mercedes-Benz O405 is a single-deck transit bus built by Mercedes-Benz. Both SBS and TIBS acquired a total of over 1000 units between 1990 and 2000 over many different variants of bodywork. This article concerns the 323 units acquired by TIBS and continued operating with SMRT Buses.

The Dennis Lance is a rear-engined single-decker transit bus built by Dennis Specialist Vehicles. Trans-Island Bus Services (TIBS) acquired 72 of such buses between 1998 and 2000, in two different bodywork options (Duple Metsec and Volgren CR221). A handful of units continue to operate as part of Strides Transportation’s charter fleet, a subsidiary of SMRT.

The DAF SB220 is a single-deck city bus chassis built by Netherlands-based bus builder DAF Bus International. TIBS acquired 84 such buses in two batches between 1990 and 1997, in both Hispano and Walter Alexander bodywork variants. All were retired by 2016.
