Civil contracts for the construction of the Downtown Line Stage 2 Extension (DTL2e) were awarded by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on 19 February 2025. Together, the contracts are worth around S$735 million.
The DTL2 Extension will extend the Downtown Line beyond Bukit Panjang, linking it to the North South Line (NSL). This two-station extension will improve rail connectivity for the north‑western part of Singapore, including areas such as Yew Tee and the future Sungei Kadut Eco‑District. The alignment of the two new stations was previously announced on 6 January 2025.
Contract 1: New DE1 Station at Sungei Kadut Avenue
The first contract, for the design and construction of an underground station (DE1) located along Sungei Kadut Avenue, was awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd at a contract value of around $285 million.
The contract includes constructing a vehicular bridge to extend Choa Chu Kang North 7 and a pedestrian link-bridge over Pang Sua Canal to enhance connectivity between Yew Tee, DE1 station and the Rail Corridor.
Contract 2: New NS6/DE2 Interchange Station
The second contract, for the design and construction of the NS6/DE2 interchange station on the DTL2e, was awarded to a joint venture between Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Singapore Branch).
The contract, valued at around $450 million, involves the construction of an underground DE2 station on the DTL and a connected aboveground NS6 station between the Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the North-South Line (NSL).
No new viaduct?
LTA’s press release makes no mention of a new viaduct connecting the elevated NSL to the Gali Batu Train Depot. The Environmental Impact Study (EIS) report for the DTL2e outlines the possibility of constructing such a viaduct.
