Diversions as outlined in this section is based off last year’s arrangements, LTA’s Road Access Plans and information released by Public Transport Operators. This document is accurate to the best of our ability and we welcome readers to highlight any mistakes.

Bus route diversions and train service extensions for the 
2014 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX
17 September – 22 September 2014

The 2014 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX returns to Singapore from 19 to 21 September 2014. Similar to past years, road closure will take place over six days, the largest series of road closures every year.

Route diversions:

Affected roads will be closed from 12:01am, 17 September (Wednesday) to facilitate the set up of race infrastructure.  When the race is completed, affected roads will reopen progressively and all roads will be fully accessible by 5:30am, 23 September (Tuesday) onwards.

Generally, alighting is allowed at any bus stop along the diversion route. However, boarding may be subject to the driver’s decision.

Midnight F1 Services during the F1 period:

As with previous years, SBS Transit will operate four midnight bus services – EW1, EW5, EW27 and NS16 – to complement the extension of train operating hours and better serve residents in the heartlands. These services will operate in addition to the Nite Owl services that operate on Friday and Saturday evenings.

These services will operate from Pasir Ris, Bedok, Boon Lay and Ang Mo Kio bus interchanges respectively, charging a flat fare of $1.50 per ride.

SBST & SMRT Route Diversion Diagrams put up on the later days of the diversion
Beach Road services are diverted to turn into Middle Road
Middle Road services (from Nicoll Highway and Beach Rd) make a left turn to North Bridge Rd
Diverted services originally from Raffles Ave and Nicoll Highway make a right turn from North Bridge Rd into Stamford Rd

Travelling Tips during the F1 period:

  • Rely on the rail network. Familiarize oneself with walking routes in and out of the Marina Bay area.
  • Plan for additional travel time. Road congestion is expected around the circuit park and next bus arrival timings will not be available.
  • Know alternative routes to your destination.
  • Approach bus drivers or interchange offices for more information on road and bus stop closures.
  • Inform bus drivers out of goodwill if one decides to alight at bus stops along the diversion route.
