Go-Ahead bus leaves trail of destruction after going off-route

A Go-Ahead Singapore bus has left a trail of destruction in a residential estate after deviating from its route from the depot.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 20. An ad-hoc road closure on Loyang Avenue caused the bus driver to take a diverted route from the bus depot.

During the process, the driver got lost and ended up in the Loyang Rise estate. Footage from a stationary car parked along the road, which later circulated online, shows the bus speeding through the narrow roads and brushing against multiple vehicles.

Zaobao reports that vehicles were found with flat tyres, and some vehicles were found dragged up to 5 metres away.

The company has since been reaching out to assist affected residents.

Road closures in the early morning hours for road works are common, and buses would typically have to take a different route to return to the depot. In 2016, an SMRT Bus was found stuck in a field after the driver took a wrong turn and attempted to make a u-turn in an open field.
