NE18 Punggol Coast station on the North-East Line (NEL) will open on Tuesday, 10 December 2024 at 3 pm. This will be the new northern terminus of the NEL, bringing the total length of the line from 19.2km to 20.8km.
Punggol Coast station is located in the heart of the new Punggol Digital District (PDD) under the NEXUS building. It serves the new JTC Business Park, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol campus, and the upcoming Punggol Coast Mall.
Transport Connections
The new station connects to bus stops along New Punggol Road, served by Bus Services 84G & 84W. The station will also be within walking distance of the nearby Punggol Coast Integrated Transport Hub, currently under construction.
Exits & Entrances
The station features 2 entrances/exits – one along New Punggol Road and the other within PDD. More than 300 bicycle parking lots are also provided at the station.
I’ve been waiting for this station to be a reality since the Punggol Digital District and SIT campus starts construction in 2020 even though the pandemic temporarily halted to build it. 2024 is really one of the best and insane year for our rail network (even though the EWL disruption was very horrible and terrifying), with nine new stations joining the network for the first time in their lives!
The interchange can also make 84G and 84W have a second end interchange
When the Punggol coast MRT station is opened, LTA may plan to make a Punggol coast LRT which go to some
islands. If there is a Punggol coastal extension for both Punggol east, west LRT and Cross island line in the future to extend to Punggol Coast and that may make Teck Lee a station for people to use. Hope there will be a Punggol
Coast Bus interchange which have shuttles to go to islands, beaches and parks near Punggol Coast station and there may be an extension of land near the station.
The plan for a Punggol Coast (North) LRT that goes to Coney, Ubin and Tekong was shelved long ago due to natural limitations and environmental concerns. If they do remake this it would only go to Coney Island.
As for a bus interchange, it already exists as Punggol Coast ITH which will open sometime next year, but is used for public buses to Punggol only. No plans for roads to Coney Island or Punggol Beach
Congratulations to SIT students and teachers, as well as HDB residents staying near the station, on the opening of the Punggol Coast MRT Station.
why must they open this at 3pm instead of when the day starts
Maybe need time to cleanup the station and do some final check for the station to ensure safely for public
