Teck Lee LRT Station (PW2) is a light rail station along the Punggol LRT (PGLRT)’s West Loop. Located within the Punggol New Town, the station is overground and was built in the middle of undeveloped forested areas just off Ponggol Seventeenth Avenue. With development of Punggol Town in the two decades after the station was constructed, the station now sits in the middle of Sentul Walk.
The station is named after Lim Teck Lee, a former businessman with connections to the area. The station serves the Punggol campus of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and the upcoming business park in the Punggol Digital District. Track provisions were also made for a possible future branch line to Punggol North.
Teck Lee LRT Station opened on 15 August 2024.

History
Teck Lee station remained closed for almost two decades after its construction. The station was built constructed together with the rest of the Punggol Sengkang LRT network, but remained unopened even as train services on the Punggol LRT West Loop began on 29 June 2014.
As the location of the station was initially forested and undeveloped, the station was remained closed and trains that served the Punggol West LRT Loop would pass through the station without opening the doors. The facade of the station was poorly upkept, with a very dusty platform and algae growing on the walls and signages. The area surrounding the station only began development later in 2018.
Indicative Development
In April 2024, the section on transport options to the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol Campus, as part of the Frequently Asked Questions on the SIT website, mentioned that “Teck Lee LRT station will be operational starting August 2024.” However, this information, along with the exploration of interim feeder bus services with the Land Transport Authority, was later removed.
An SIT spokesperson later said in May 2024 that the information pertaining to Teck Lee LRT Station was removed as details have not been finalised, in response to queries from CNA.
On 31 July 2024, the opening date was officially announced to be on 15 August 2024.

2024 (Punggol North Provisions)
Actually, although now got SIT somewhat in the way, yesterday I took the Punggol West LRT, and I kinda see that there are some space provisions made – if and when the Punggol North LRT does happen (if it has not been scrapped already).
Nonetheless, given the negative opinions about the LRT, it is unlikely that anymore LRT lines would be built. The role of Punggol North LRT can be replaced with Punggol North Bus Interchange and the bus routes originating from it.
SIT has since removed all references to Teck Lee LRT’s opening, as well as Punggol Coast Interchange (Scheduled for the “end of 2024” according to it)
A bit of maintenance work needed, such as giving a fresh coat of paint to the station building, and cleaning up the floor tiles, and the roof of the linkway and the station, and it should be ready to serve passengers already.
Quote from the SIT website: “Teck Lee LRT station will be operational starting August 2024.”
I hope that SBS Transit will open Teck Lee LRT Station by early next year as this Station is near to SIT Campus at Punggol Digital District where Punggol Coast MRT Station is located.
