4 new bus services to be introduced in Tengah

4 new bus services will be introduced in Tengah estate, as announced in the Land Transport Authority’s announcement on the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme yesterday (9 February 2026).

3 trunk bus services will provide Tengah residents with direct connectivity to Jurong East, Jurong West and the city area:

  • Bus Service 97: Tengah – Marina Centre (from 8 March 2026)
    Extended from Jurong East Int
  • Bus Service 97e: Peak Period Express Bus Service between Tengah and Marina Centre (from 8 March 2026)
    Extended from Jurong East Int
  • Bus Service 181: Boon Lay – Tengah (TBA)
Extended from current looping point at Jurong West

Feeder Bus Service 831G & 831W – Tengah’s first feeder bus service, will provide connectivity within Tengah to new upcoming developments (from 8 March 2026).

I am curious as to what other feeders will be introduced to Tengah in the near future
My suspicions are that 2 more would be introduced at least, specifically one for Forest Hill, and one for Brickland.
Plantation, Garden & Park seem to be quite well connected to the future Tengah Central already via existing svcs (181 870 871 872 992 831G/W), While JID (the entire west chunk of Tengah reserved for industries) may be served by “passing through” trunks, plus the Forest Hill feeder if its ever conceived.

They extending 97 and introducing 831 partly to provide connectivity to Parc Point, which is a very huge mall that is comparable to the R&F Mall that is next to the causeway, and definitely they need the public transport linkage to that mall so that people can access the mall easily to make the mall commercially viable. Therefore, am expecting 181 extension into Tengah to also connect to Parc Point, which will also bring relief to Gek Poh residents who won’t have Gek Poh Shopping Centre in 2026 and 2027 due to that shopping mall redevelopment.

makes more sense to extend 868E to Tengah instead, renumber it 878E and introduce an all stops version 878 terminating at MCT instead of touching 97/97E.

My guess 97/97e will be popular route.
I hope LTA would extend 852 to Tengah too.

ridiculous suggestion to extend 852 when you already have 992 bringing you to Bukit Batok, and 871 bringing you to Beauty World.

the only reasonable extension would be 171 from Bukit Panjang to Tengah.

Again no hints or announcements about 171 to Tengah.Tengah is on going soon to be crowded in future so why not having a couple of svc complement to Tengah?

bus 181 already fully packed during peak hours if add on to extra route will cause disruption to us staying in jurong west.. hope they can reconsider this option.

No worries about bus crowdedness from 2027 onwards due to JRL opening. One JRL train with 3 carriages is equivalent to 3.3 double decker buses. And with the feeder frequency on MRT/LRT, actually JRL is equivalent to 3 bus routes. Boon Lay Int/MRT to Gek Poh will be well covered, in fact excessively covered.

Honestly, no issue. Presently, 181 and 243 combined capacity also more than enough to serve the Gek Poh population. And furthermore, got 242 for those staying at St 72.

If 181 waiting time too long, please change to take either 243 or 242 (depending on where you stay), which are feeder bus services and thus have higher frequency than 181.

984 has its own benefits. but 171 is different. It will open up and provide different connections to interior areas of bukit panjang and to mandai and yishun.

getting 174 to ply tengah is plain stupid. 174 is already so crowded. it will only get worst n complicated. rather intro a new trunk service to town. via orchard and can terminate at marina center terminal. or at best just extend service 77 to tengah.

better 77 than 97 extended to TGH. but 868E still the best option. can also intro all stops variant.

Sorry, but, where you get information that 174 is going to be rerouted to Tengah? Although it technically ran through Tengah last time via the now-defunct Jurong Road, today’s road layout of Tengah actually does not connect Tengah to Jurong West directly. 174 unlikely will be rerouted back to Tengah.
