Car-Free Sunday SG is an initiative by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to convert roads in the Central Business District (CBD) and the heart of the city into a recreational precinct for the public on every last Sunday of the month, starting from February 2016 for a 6 month trial period, where traffic is least in the CBD. It is part of the larger movement towards a car-lite Singapore. This is a similar concept to the Orchard Road Pedestrian Night, where a segment of Orchard Road was closed to traffic on the first Saturday of every month for a 1 year trial period back in 2015. Following the success of the Car-Free Sunday SG trial which ended on 31 July 2016, more Car-Free Sundays were designated after the trial.
From October 2016, the Car-Free Sunday included roads in the Telok Ayer conservation area.
The May 2017 Car-Free Sunday SG event also included road closures at Bencoolen Street.
In April 2018, Car-Free Sunday took place at one-north instead of the CBD.
The designated Car-Free Sunday SG days are:

Road Closures
Car-Free Sunday SG involves the closure of certain roads in the city centre from 0800hrs to 1200hrs on affected days. These roads are as follows:

Bus-Only Reverse Flow Lanes
Due to Road Closures along Robinson Road, Cecil Street, Fullerton Road and Esplanade Drive, buses will travel on a designated reverse flow lane along Shenton Way, Raffles Quay, Collyer Quay and Esplanade Drive.
Temporary Bus Stops
Temporary Bus Stops will be set up along Shenton Way and Raffles Quay for commuters to board or alight along the reverse-flow lane.
Operating hours of these Temporary Bus Stops are 0500hrs to 1230hrs on Car-Free Sundays.

Our Church – Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church is often affected by the Car Free Sunday. Especially the elderly and the young that need extra help. Like coming by Taxi or personal cars. Alighting is a issue. Parking is also a issue.
Could you please help by:
1) Allowing Taxi and personal cars to alight passengers.
2) Do not close the road that is accessible to our Church all the way to the carpark that has the barrier?
