Art in Transit:Ā “Superstring” by Joshua Yang

The work consists of a series of singleĀ continuous line drawings where the line neither overlaps nor breaks. The drawing of the art wall, with the dimensions of gaps and positions of bolts. The artist aims to bring out the inconsistencies between the planned construction and the final wall which the viewer is facing. The drawing surrounding the ticket machines allows the viewer to see through the glass and the structures behind. In some ways it is a parody of the age-old technique of singleĀ point perspective drawing to create an imagined three-dimensional space; here the three-dimensional space is compressed with a single,Ā continuous line so that the viewer becomes aware of the fourth dimension: Time.
