one-north MRT Station (CC23) is an underground station alongĀ the Circle Line (CCL). It is built within the one-north business park, which was developed for the R&D and high technology cluster, comprising biomedical sciences, info-comm technology (ICT) and media industries. Architecture practice Aedas designed the station.

The station takes its name from theĀ one-north business park, a reference to Singapore’s latitude being (slightly over) one degree north of the equator. The station is nestled withinĀ the basement of Fusionopolis, aĀ research and development complex comprisingĀ retail outlets andĀ serviced apartments. It is also the only station across the Singapore rail network to have aĀ name starting with a lowercase letter.

Apart from theĀ one-northĀ business park itself, theĀ station also serves the older Ayer Rajah Industrial Estate, as well as schools and housing developments along the nearby Dover Road.

Art in Transit:Ā “A Visual Narrative Pandemonic Rhythmic Movement” by Yek Wong

This triptych is a visual metaphor of the operational timeline of the Mass Rapid Transit system. The zigzagging intertwining looping dance-like linear elements weaving through time (from left to right) represent passengersā€™ daily commutes. The pulsating background of shifting magenta, cyan, pink, orange, green and black give the illusion of the progression of time. Viewed as a whole, each of the three panels resembles time-lapsed video or photography of commuters getting into the train to get to their destinations: getting off the train to go to work, go to lunch, finish work; and get home. The image of the entire MRT system depicted in an abstract manner, is a narration of synchronizedĀ chaos and rhythmic-poetry from morning (left panel), to afternoon (middle panel), and into evening (right panel).
