Bus-Plus Services Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of SMRT Buses and long-time operator of the Tampines Retail Park shuttle services, was replaced with ComfortDelGro Bus Pte Ltd as part of a contract renewal. Its last day of operations was on 31 October 2016.
There were 4 different shuttle bus routes originating from Pasir Ris, Tampines, Bedok and Sengkang MRT Stations, connecting shoppers to and from Tampines Retail Park. The Shuttle Services to Tampines and Bedok runs on a daily basis, while the Pasir Ris and Sengkang shuttle services only run on Weekends and Public Holidays only.
A Brief History
The Tampines Retail Park shuttle started in Year 2006, in tandem with the opening of IKEA Tampines, the furniture chain’s second outlet in Singapore after IKEA Alexander. In its early years, the shuttle had been operated with a mix of SBS Transit, SMRT and Woodlands Transport buses. As Giant Hypermarket and Courts Megastore opened in the following months, the shuttle was amended to serve these outlets as well.
Eventually, BusPlus became the sole operator of the Tampines Retail Park shuttle, with Dennis Lance buses running daily and supplemented by Mercedes-Benz O405 buses on weekends. Later, the Pasir Ris route was downgraded from daily operation to weekends only, and Dennis Lance buses comprised the full operating fleet, substituting Mercedes-Benz O405 buses.
As part of a renewed contract, ComfortDelGro Bus Pte Ltd took over Bus-Plus Services Pte Ltd as the operator of the Tampines Retail Park shuttle services with effect from 01 Nov 2016.
