As an interim route, 171 can use Brickland Road, Bukit Batok Road and Tengah Park Avenue in between CCK and Tengah, and use the PIE then make a U-Turn at the Bukit Batok and Hong Kah flyovers in each direction until the Jurong Canal flyover is complete.
Extending 171 to Boon Lay would bring about added benefits to those living in not only Tengah, but also in CCK and Boon Lay, creating Tengah’s first through trunk route, as well as directly connecting the Jurong West estates to Tengah and CCK. I also purposely made it meander very little, such that it still remains an option for those travelling from Tengah/Boon Lay to Yishun. If there are capacity constraints at Boon Lay Interchange, 187 could instead be extended to Soon Lee.
ppl are still waiting bus 171 to extend Tengah. I think one day they will finallise the route via Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang as no bus direct to Yishun from CCK.
