Feeder Bus Service 298X provides a faster connection for commuters travelling between Tampines North, Tampines West, and Tampines town centre/MRT Station. This express feeder service, which operates only during weekday morning & evening peak hours and serves selected stops, is a quicker alternative to the regular Feeder Bus Service 298.
For residents of Tampines North and Tampines West, Service 298X is expected to reduce commuting times to and from key transport nodes around Tampines town centre, such as Tampines MRT Station and Tampines Bus Interchange during the busy peak periods.
At Tampines Town Centre, Service 298X only serves the following pair of bus stops along Tampines Ave 4 and Tampines Ctrl 1:
- Tampines Ctrl 1
Bus Stops 76559 (Aft Tampines Stn Exit E) & 76551 (Tampines Stn Exit D) - Tampines Ave 4
Bus Stops 76149 (Opp Tampines Stn/Int) & 76141 (Tampines Stn/Int)
If the eves of Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Chinese New Year fall on a weekday, the Evening Peak departures will be brought forward to the afternoon. Revised departure times will be provided by the operator closer to the affected date.
Express Feeder Services
Service 298X is the first express feeder service to be introduced in Singapore. Under the Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) launched in 2024, these express feeder services are intended to benefit residential estates that are located further away from major transport nodes and town centres. These services will take more direct routes with fewer intermediate stops compared to regular feeder bus services.
These services use the ‘X’ suffix, which was formerly used by route variants of SBS bus services, but has since been mostly replaced by the ‘M’-suffix. As of November 2024, Bus Service 170X is the only other route using the ‘X’ suffix.

Back to Bus Services
801X is under discussion by LTA already.
Other than that there is no plans for another Express Feeder, do be patient everyone!
Please make a double deck bus for this service as more commuters taking this bus
Please consider Feeder 920X and 922X from Bt Panjang over crowded during Weekdays Peak Hours.
298x charges feeder fares and it is a intratown/townlink style feeder because it serves 2 estates while passing through the town ctr similar to 268.
1. Strange how the “X” suffice is chosen instead of “e”.
2. Just for skipping a few stops, this service charges express fare? 298X is not even an inta-town service, which necessitate express charges. Bet most sane commuters would just wait for the parent route 298.
Normal feeder fares are charged.
Read the fine print la. It charges feeder service fare (capped at 3.2km). Dont just criticise this as another pointless bus service.
> “Just for skipping a few stops, this service charges express fare”
> Is literally just a variant of a feeder route that charges literally the same as on regular 298
Oh you are *so wrong* there sweet summer child
Ok good, time to do a service 240X and 334X because it is always crowded during peak hours
240 does not justify Express feeder, anyway we have 30 and 154 as the “Express Feeder”
334 highly recommend.
I thought it would use the ‘E’ suffix since it is an express service but they decided to kinda follow 170X and use ‘X’.
Renumber 170x to 170m
170X soon gg liao when RTS link opens
Definitely will not use ‘E’ as the fare will not be the same. 298 will just charge as normal feeder bus fare.
