I think the objective is to provide the residents of Tampines a bus service as 34 can get delayed due to the traffic jam at TPE.
34 is the best candidate for this short-trip as it spans from Tampines East to West, giving residents options to transfer to other bus service along the way to get to their destinations.
If more buses are added to 34, they will only be stucked at TPE, causing more jams.
This is definitely a good and right move by LTA in my opinion.
Hmmm you actually have a point regarding the jam at TPE. Didn’t cross my mind about that initially. Ok, I second this! 😅
This is such an unnecessary service. While we are aware that 34 receives high demand from Tampines to Changi Airport, I feel would just be better to increase the fleet/frequency of bus 34 rather than introducing an entirely ‘new service’.
It shouldn’t even be called a ‘short-trip service’. Only 10 stops were omitted from its parent route but the main bulk of the route between Tampines Changi Airport (loop) still remains untouched.
Would’ve just been better to increase number of busses operating for Bus 34 🤷🏻♀️
Would be better if Punggol loops at Tampines Int as 34M,Can compliment high demands from Punggol to Tampines using double deckers
If you add more buses to bus service 34, it will have so many jams during the peak hours, especially the TPE, must well keep this service operating during the morning and evening peak hours. To be honest, LTA did the right thing by introducing this short-trip service 34B.
