CRRC eD12 launched on Bus 118

The CRRC eD12 electric double-decker bus has begun revenue service on 16 October 2025, operating on Bus Service 118.

The article was originally published as CRRC eD12 registered to Go-Ahead Singapore

Registered as SG4015U to Go-Ahead Singapore on 28 July 2025, the bus was first spotted conducting road tests on 29 July 2025.

Displayed at the Singapore International Transport Congress and Exhibition last year, the bus is one of the 3 electric double-decker buses featuring the three-door, two-staircase configuration designed to enhance commuter flow. Similar 3-door 2-staircase electric double-decker trial buses have been designed for the Singapore market by other manufacturers, including Yutong, BYD and Zhongtong, in preparation for the major electric bus contract of 360 single-deck buses and 300 double-deck buses called this year.

The CRRC eD12 is the first of its kind to be registered for road trials in Singapore. On first impressions, the unit appears to be a different unit from the one exhibited at SITCE. The rims have been changed and treeguards have been added to the upper deck. Apart from minor cosmetic differences, the exterior of the bus remains largely similar. It features a special SG Bus livery with a heartbeat line diagram with a blue-green background, seemingly inspired by Hong Kong’s Kowloon Motor Bus “Heartbeat of the City” livery. Roof-mounted solar panels are also seen atop the bus.

Previously, CRRC also trialled a single-decker 3-door CRRC TEG6125BEV03 bus with Go-Ahead Singapore. After revenue service trials lasting over a year, the bus was reused and converted to a mobile mammogram bus (MammoXpress).

The CRRC eD12 is expected to enter revenue service trials soon, likely on on Bus Services 83 and 118 which also uses a fleet of electric Yutong E12DD buses and 3-door MAN A95 buses. The bus was spotted at various locations along the routes on 29 July 2025, including Changi Business Park, outside Temasek Polytechnic, and inside Punggol and Sengkang Bus Interchanges.

So far the electric bus deployments under GAS are:

    Single Decks:
3: Yutong E12(by right and should debut byd and zhongtong)
15: BYD & Zhongtong(also should debut on 3, it did but it was a one off)

    Double Decks:

    83 & 118: Yutong E12 and now this(interlining i think)

For Demo Ev Single Decks: Usually 3/Punggol Feeder/Pasir Ris Feeder.

Once GAS gets more EV buses hopefully they start debut on other services like both pasir ris/punggol feeders which i feel feeders are the only routes that these 3 door single decks worked the best. Other potential services could be: 82, 84G/84W, 119, 136…etc

Confirmed deployments are 83 & 118, which was pretty obvious anyway looking at where the current electric DD are now…

They should add this on 84w/g, 43,43m, 136 and the upcoming 104

136 did deploy double deckers on the first day of GAS 136 before in glitchfan2428’s video but there isn’t footage of 136 DD going to Serangoon garden so 136 is probably a special depature having DDs.

Better on 118 due to express sector, high demand and decent distance. Can really test it to its true potential and see if LTA want to purchase more for production batches for future DD purchases or not. Rather it test on services with actual demand. 118 is great for this but 83 is ok, would better with 43 instead to test the distance though

I hope it will debut on 118 because of the reasons:

    – Remember SG4006X? That bus debuted on 3 before going back to LTA Storage
    – Service 118 also deployed Yutong E12 DDs and I hope 118 deploys this new DD, just like how Service 3 deployed both Yutong E12 SDs and SG4006X

Yes, I agree! Service 118 has an expressway sector and high demand making it a good stress test service for the new bus unlike 83.
