The Terminal:
Gali Batu Bus Terminal is a bus terminal just off Woodlands Road, built on the roof slab of Gali Batu MRT Depot‘s expanded train stabling area. It serves as a terminating point for bus routes serving the Bukit Panjang area, and does not offer any rail connections.
The interchange has a single bus park offering 20 rigid bus lots and 10 articulated bus lots. Vehicles enter the interchange via separate ingress and egress ramps leading to a spur route of Jalan Gali Batu, which runs adjacent to the terminal and on elevated ground. Commuters can reach the interchange on foot from either Jalan Gali Batu (next to vehicle entrance) or via Woodlands Road, where the overhead pedestrian bridge connects directly to the bus terminal.
The passenger concourse features two sawtooth boarding berths and an alighting berth.
Historical Background
The bus terminal was constructed as part of a depot expansion project at Gali Batu MRT Depot. Contract 9061 for the Expansion of Gali Batu MRT Depot involved the expanding of the train depot’s stabling capacity from 42 trains to 81 trains by 2019, and was awarded to Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure Ltd in January 2015 at a contract sum of $137.4 million. The contract also includes the construction of the Gali Batu Bus Terminal, built on top of the train stabling area and connected to Woodlands Road via a pedestrian link bridge.
The construction of the bus terminal above a rail depot mirrors that of Tuas Bus Terminal which was opened in October 2017.
In August 2020, a COVID-19 swab station was set up in Gali Batu Bus Terminal for the testing of public transport workers. Ferry bus services were provided by SMRT Buses to ferry their staff to and from the swabbing station. In end-2020, the terminal was used as a temporary storage location for several LTA Storage Buses under the Bus Contracting Model.
Opening
The bus terminal officially opened on Saturday, 23 January 2021. Despite being outfitted with commuter facilities, the terminal was not open to the public. As a result, boarding and alighting activities are not allowed at the terminal.
Bus Services 75 & 184 uses Gali Batu Bus Terminal as a layover point between trips. The last stop for Gali Batu-bound buses is Woodlands Road (Opp Blk 635A), where all passengers must alight. The first boarding stop for these services is at Woodlands Road (Aft KJE Slip Rd).
A Straits Times article quoted an LTA spokesman which said that the terminal had been designed with boarding and alighting facilities “to serve developments around the bus terminal in future”. At present, only light industries are located in the vicinity.

Got a feeling two service from BPJ & CCK Int will he extended here.SBST 170X also a candidate.
I hope 176 & 180 will start here and also 973 & 976.
This terminal has more parking lots than the cursed Bukit Panjang ITH or even CCK Int.
I would like to see LTA amend a couple of service from the two Int to start here to reduce congestion and parking problems.BCs mealtimes affected almost everyday without fail.
CCK/BPJ Int need to reduce 2 service each. The feeder service can stay at their own Int respectively.
Looks like there will be delay to operate this bus terminal.
I thinking that the candidates to use this bus terminal are as follows:
– All the bus services at Bukit Panjang Bus Park
– SBS Transit Svc 170x
– Maybe introduce 1 feeder to rounds at Yew Tee bringing residents other than Svc 979
Most likely operator for this bus terminal is SMRT Buses.
Beside 75,184 & 700/A,2 BPJ trunk svc will be extended here which i assume one of them is 976.SBST 170X also candidate to start here.So if the two BPJ trunks start from here means BPJ will have one new feeder.
Than what about bus 974?? It will also extend there
I heard 972 may be extended. 974 may go to BPITH. 972 is meant to supplement 190 (acting as 190M)
How you are you sure about 972 extended to the bus terminal
Actually, how is it that this location is economical to host bus services? The road connection to the main road is so long. Really more economical to operate at the Bukit Panjang Bus Park instead of relocating to the Gali Batu Bus Terminal.
Also, the location is so remote from even the nearest community, which is the Yew Tee residential town.
I have a feeling, this bus terminal is not actually for passenger service, but only for… fengshui purpose.
Unless they are able to shorten the road connection to the main road. That road is really too long. It’s just going to add on to the mileage and waste the related petrol, time, manpower and buses.
Unless, it’s meant to be the hub for Malaysia buses, ie those that currently base at Jurong East Bus Interchange, Queen Street Bus Terminal, etcetera. If that’s the case, then it’s worth it. Which means this Gali Batu Bus Terminal is meant to be the sister bus terminal of the Larkin Bus Terminal at Johor Bahru. While the other bus interchange and terminals capacity are freed up to use for other bus services, especially Jurong East Bus Interchange which may not have enough capacity even for the Singapore public bus services.
Actually can just amend 160 start from Gali Batu to Larkin Terminal and 170 starts from Marina Centre to JB Sentral..
