On Sunday, 12 March 2017, a section of Upper Aljunied Road, between Vernon Park and Upper Serangoon Road, was permanently closed to traffic as part of plans to transform it into a heritage walk.
The realignment of Upper Aljunied Road paves the way for the pedestrianisation of the existing Upper Aljunied Road and the creation of a new Bidadari Heritage Walk that will preserve the rich heritage and memories of the estate. Lined with a canopy of mature trees, the 700-metre Heritage Walk will recount the history and stories of Bidadari’s rich heritage, including prominent personalities of the past.
Bus Route Amendments
As a result of the road realignments, Bus Services 100, 135 and 155 were diverted to a new, realigned stretch of Upper Aljunied Road with two new bus stops. The amended route also saw the three services calling at the pair of bus stops outside Woodleigh MRT Station.
Four bus stops along the old stretch of road were abolished.
The abolished bus stops were replaced with a pair of new bus stops along the realigned Upper Aljunied Road.
